In fact you can always back up before if youre afraid youre gonna mess something up so theres literally no risk if you do so and the reason i did transfer all the files from steam to neople is cause i didn't want to re-download the whole game again even tho it didn't technically fix the steam issue but at least you don't have to redownload the whole game. All i did was download the launcher from Neople and took all the files from the steam version of the game and dropped it into the Neople version of the game and it works perfectly fine for me. The last thing you want to do in order to fix an issue of a game on your own, is tweaking files of this game. 
Unless Neople is unable to come up with an official update after excessive amount of time. And based on the fact that I've been owning a Neople DFO account since 2015, I'll just ignore your solution for now. Though I haven't tried your solution yet, it seems risky for me and I don't want to bet my luck on it. Simply downloading a Neople version and overwritting files of Steam version with files of Neople version may cause even more problems.
